Do you need a Document Certification Service?
We can help. Whether it’s for a mortgage application, a new bank/building society applications or another reason, we can certify your documents. You can call us on 01925 937070 or email diane@dsmlegal.co.uk.
Why do documents have to be certified?
You may have been asked to send in photocopies of an original document. To prove that the photocopies are a true and exact likeness of the original copy, we will legally check and certify your document(s). This can be done very quickly and with little fuss. We can certify documents such as a passport or an official letter. We will certify that any photocopies you supply are a true and exact likeness of the original document.
How is a document certified?
You will need to ensure that any photocopies provided to the company requesting them are like-for-like with the originals. We will check the original documents against the photocopies and certify that each is a true likeness. We stamp the document with the words: –
‘Certified to be a true copy of the original seen by me’.
This is then signed and dated by the signatory, with their name printed under the signature, along with the signatory’s occupation, address and telephone number. It is recommended that a solicitor certify your documents. This is a safe and trusted way to ensure this will meet all legal requirements.
