Diane Massey – Solicitor Director at DSM Legal Solicitors

Diane is the founder and owner of DSM Legal Solicitors.   She studied law at John Moores University in Liverpool. 

Her chosen modules at University were employment law, medical negligence and insurance law.  Core subjects were negligence (including personal injury), contract, wills, criminal law and family law.  

After passing her Solicitors’ Finals exams at the Chester College of Law she went onto train at a well-established firm in St. Helens and qualified as a solicitor in 1994.   

Shortly after qualification she became a member of the Law Society’s Mental Health Review Tribunal representing clients who were detained under the Mental Health Act.  Whilst still in private practice she became a part-time law lecturer on GCSE and ILEX (Institute of Legal Executives) courses.     

Areas of Specialism

Diane now concentrates on the following areas of law:-

Personal Injury Claims – of all types – on behalf of Claimants.   She has a particular interest in injuries sustained in accidents in work and in road traffic accidents (including pedestrians, motorcyclists and cyclists).  She acts exclusively for Claimants on a No Win No Fee basis and has over 25 years’ experience of dealing with Defendant insurance companies.  

Negligence Claims – Diane handles all types of negligence claims, whether against medical or legal professionals.  Types of claims include claims against accountants, solicitors, hospitals and dentists. 

Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney

Diane regularly advises drafts Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney on behalf of individuals.   She is a member of STEP (the global professional association for practitioners who specialise in family inheritance and succession planning) and holds the STEP Certificate in Trusts and Estates.  

Employment Tribunal Claims and Settlement Agreements 

Diane has, for many years, represented both Claimants and Respondents in Employment Tribunal claims and regularly drafts and advises on Settlement Agreements.    

She leads a team of dedicated support staff who are always on hand to help.

Hobbies and interests 

Diane says:

“I love spending time with my family and friends, reading, writing, going to the theatre, walking, gardening and taking care of my cats.

I am passionate about supporting environmental causes, animal welfare, child poverty and education.   I support TASC (The Ambulance Staff Charity), Cancer Research and the RSPCA. ”
